Kenya establishes Global Mangrove Alliance national chapter

Kenya has officially launched the Global Mangrove Alliance-Kenya chapter following a meeting of key stakeholders in Mombasa.

This alliance aims to advance mangrove conservation in line with the GMA global goal to increase mangrove cover by 20% by 2030.

The gathering brought together key government agencies and non-state actors to align on national targets and initiatives as well as identify areas of collaboration.

GMA-Kenya was founded by Conservation International (CI), International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), The Nature Conservancy (TNC), Wetlands International (WI), and WWF-Kenya.

The initiative is supported under the Save Our Mangroves Now! Project which is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through WWF-Germany.
