Kenyan CSOs Trained on Infrastructure Monitoring
Members of The National Environment Civil Society Alliance of Kenya (NECSA-K), an alliance of civil society organizations (CSOs), received a one-week intensive monitoring training at MS Training Center for Development Cooperation in Arusha Tanzania.
The training focused on monitoring the impact of large infrastructure projects on the environment and people.
“The lessons learned from this training will guide NECSA-K on designing a practical monitoring tool meant to monitor key infrastructure projects in Kenya like the Dongo Kundu bypass highway,” Dr. Dominic Walubengo, Co-Chair, NECSA-K.
While infrastructure is not a sector African CSOs have traditionally engaged in, the ASI Programme is working to build their capacity. This will strengthen their ability to engage regional political institutions to commit to adopt and implement sustainable investment and infrastructure legislations, policies, and plans.
