World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated on the 5th of June every year, and is the United Nation’s principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of our environment. This year WWF-Kenya joined the rest of the world in marking this important day. The theme this year was #BeatPlasticPollution which was the number 1 trending topic on social media worldwide.

The Ministry of Environment and Forestry lead the National celebration in Kwale County through various pre-WED activities such as tree planting and community engagements and dialogues.
